DR. DAVID ALEJANDRO GARCÍA HELLEBUYCK

David is an attorney-at-law and notary public with more than fifteen years of experience in commercial law, strategic litigation, and domestic and international arbitration. He is a Partner at García Hellebuyck Abogados and heads the firm’s dispute resolution practice. For seven years, he served as a judicial clerk in Appellate Courts with jurisdiction over civil and commercial matters, where he acquired solid training in judicial technique and the analysis of complex business disputes. In private practice, he has successfully represented domestic companies and multinational corporations in disputes involving distribution agreements, transportation, insurance, surety bonds, maritime law, intellectual property, new technologies, unfair competition, shareholder disputes, mergers and acquisitions, and claims for damages, in sectors such as agriculture, fertilizers, the pharmaceutical industry, construction, and industrial equipment. He holds a Doctorate in Private Law (summa cum laude) from Universidad Dr. José Matías Delgado in partnership with the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property and New Technologies Law from the International University of La Rioja (Spain) and a Master’s Degree in Corporate Law from Universidad Centroamericana José Simeón Cañas. He has served as President of the Salvadoran Chapter of the Spanish and Ibero-American Arbitration Club (CEIA). He is currently a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb, London), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), and the Latin American Arbitration Association (ALARB). He is also the Coordinator for El Salvador of the Ibero-American Institute of Corporate Law and a member of The Dispute Resolution Board Foundation. He is listed as an arbitrator on the rosters of the Mediation and Arbitration Center of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of El Salvador (CAMARASAL), the Arbitration and Conciliation Center of the Chamber of Commerce of Guatemala (CENAC), the Conflict Resolution Commission of the Chamber of Industry of Guatemala (CRECIG), the Arbitration Center of Mexico (CAM), the Mediation and Arbitration Center of the National Chamber of Commerce of Mexico City (CANACO), and the International Conciliation and Arbitration Center (CICA) of Costa Rica. He is the author of specialized legal publications on commercial arbitration and regularly participates as a speaker and lecturer in arbitration training programs throughout the region.
